GDUSA V.49 N°1 (Enero 2013)

10 People to watch
Gdusa starts each year by choosing a group of People To Watch who embody the spirit of the creative community. The criteria: individuals who we have come to know and respect for a combination of talent, leadership, newsworthinesss, insight, business savvy and community involvement. In a field so deep in talents subjective process. Still, for five decades, it often works out: the roster of past participants in star studded and the 2013 group adds to the luster.

60 Students to watch
With the help of America’s leading schools, we identify 25 of the top art and design students in the land representing top institutions. It’s a win-win for everyone: the students get recognized and we get energized. A special thanks to the Creative Group, a leading specialized staffing firm, for sponsoring this feature.

78 Designer guide
Companies and institutions which understand the creative mind are rare. Every year, we spotlight a selection of designer-friendly companies and resources who provide first rate products, services, resources, information, value. From papermakers to image providers to manufacturers to distributors to event makers to associations, they stand with the graphic design community in this time of change.

100 Past people to watch
A complete roster of past People to Watch recognized in our January editions. It is a remarkable array of the great and near-great. If this list does not read like a Hall of Fame – the early decades alone included Primo Angeli, Saul Bass, Clive Chajet, Lou Dorfsman, Gene Federico, Bob Gill, Walter Landor, George Lois, John Massey, Herb Meyers, Massimo Vignelli – we don’t know what does.

102 Focus
In this special issue spotlighting influential graphic designers of the past and present, Donna Farrugia of The Creative Group talks about how to spark your own creativity to rise above. And, with Pantone celebrating its 50th anniversary we look at their 2013 Color of the Year.
